ASCII Success Summit Goes to Michigan

The ASCII IT Success Summit touched down in Ann Arbor, Mich., for the first time on June 27 and 28, in what was the fifth of nine summit events in 2018. The summits bring together IT solution providers and technology vendors in a two-day format that includes extensive networking, education, and training.

In addition to best-practice addresses from ASCII members and thought leaders, the special guest for 2018 is Theresa Payton, former White House CIO. Payton was the first female to serve as White House chief information officer, and was named No. 4 on IFSEC Global’s list of the world’s Top 50 cybersecurity influencers in 2017.

Jerry Koutavas, president of The ASCII Group, opened the pre-day on Wednesday with a talk about ASCII Group’s unique approach to peer groups.

Pre-day educational sessions included presentations on security, marketing, and unified communications as a service. The day concluded with an ASCII member meeting and evening networking reception.

On Thursday, keynote speaker Bradley Gross, managing partner at the law office of Bradley Gross, P.A., discussed how MSPs can avoid legal disasters.

The Internet of Things was also on the agenda. ASCII member Tim Martin, business development manager for Action Point Software Development, presented “It’s Happening Now—How One Company is Helping MSPs Generate Recurring Revenue Using IoT.”

And fellow ASCII member Lamar Curtis, president of IAG Business Technology, presented on “Lessons From the Field: Hurricane Harvey—What MSPs May Overlook in their Business Continuity Planning.”

There were also educational sessions on security, sales and marketing, VoIP, cloud backup, and more.
